Study 1 - Deborah

We start with Deborah from the book of Judges in the Old Testament.  She was called a prophetess and Judge.  A prophetess would speak on behalf of the sender (which is God) and would send these messages to others.  In the times of the Old Testament, a Judge would deliver judgement to others. These select people had the authority to decide on controversies, give verdicts, and execute judgments.  This is obviously a strong role in the community.

Study 2 - Naomi from the book of Ruth

We are introduced to Naomi as she follows her husband to leave their home town. They settle in Moab.  The name Naomi means pleasant; however, parts of her life shows differently.  We will learn how she copes with the struggles in her life.

How did she overcome? Or did she?

Study 3 - Ruth

In this book we will see Ruth’s first step in faith.  Ruth has had a hard life and came from an area that many deemed horrible and ungodly.  Many probably didn't see much value in her.

We will see how she was redeemed and how God uses her to bless others.

Study 4 - Mary, mother of Jesus

In these verses, we will get a glimpse of what Mary’s life was like. Mary was obedient and loved the LORD will all her heart.  The actions she shows in the Bible, show us this.  No one can deny her that.  However her life wasn't always easy.

We will see how Mary deals with the wonderful and the difficult situations in life.

Study 5 - Lydia

During this time in history, the apostles are spreading the word of God and building up people to be the churches of Christianity.  Lydia is a woman from Thyatira, who hears Paul’s, Silas’ and Timothy’s message about Jesus.  What she does with this knowledge is amazing.

Let’s see what we can learn from her.

Closing Message

These 5 women were instrumental in the Bible.  They show us how we should behave in leadership, overcome difficult circumstances, to have good character and integrity, keep our faith in troubling times and how to encourage and show our love for God to others.  We are daughters of God and His plans for us are great. Plans that we each have according to the gifts God has given us. How are you going to use them?  How are we going to show God that we are so happy and appreciative of His sacrifice for us?  How are we going to glorify and honor Him in what we do?  These women showed us how.  God loves us and will never leave us and we can use these women’ stories to help remind us of this.  That’s why He had the Bible written.  To tell us His story, to guide us, to remind us and to encourage us.  All because He loves us!
