Congratulations, You’re A Christian
Bible Study

You’re a Christian now. Cool. Now what? If you’ve recently become a Christian, this is one of the most important questions you can ask. This Bible study seeks to provide you with answers to show you what you can do next. Each part of the study has an intro, a teaching lesson, and a takeaway lesson.

Lesson 1 - The Bible

The Bible. Many people have said they find it hard to understand, too archaic and some even say it's no longer relevant. So why do we need to have a Bible? Well, the Bible was written by God. He used writers that were guided by the Holy Spirit to write what He wanted us to know about Him. Throughout the text, we learn about ourselves as God’s creation, how much God loves us, and how others dealt with life. Look at it this way, a Bible is the best way to learn more about what God is like, what God wants for us and what He wants us to know about everything. God knows it all and He shares His wisdom with us through the Bible. This wisdom we learn comes from God, and what He did for others and us.

Lesson 2 - Your Community

This next part is extremely important in our faith. Community. A community is your group of believers. This community should help strengthen your belief, encourage you in your walk, and love you in this crazy journey of life. Did you ever wonder why God calls us to do this?  Sure, we can follow Jesus on our own, however, Jesus modeled us to do life with others. Jesus, Himself, had His disciples with Him through most of His ministry.  Also, God saw that Adam needed a helper, hence Eve. Also, who can ignore Jesus’ teachings, to tell others of Him?  Who do we tell when we are all by ourselves? And how do we gather the strength to step out of our comfort zone to do the work God has called us to do?

Lesson 3 - Jesus Isn’t Your Cop-Out

Our journey through this new commitment isn’t going to be perfect and that is ok. We will never be perfect, but our goal is to sin less and strive to be closer to Jesus. We are so grateful for Jesus taking our sins and saving us that we desire to please and obey Him in all that we do. However, it is not an ultimate cop-out for us to do whatever we like and claim to believe and love God. If we truly believe we are followers of Jesus, grateful for all He did for us, and want Him in our lives then, this fact changes us. It changes how we see others, changes how we live our lives, changes what we do. However, our change isn’t always as quick and painless as we would like. We receive grace from God but that does not mean we are free to do whatever we want.

Lesson 4 - Greatest Commandments

The next thing that is extremely important for us, is to do our best to understand and follow Jesus’ greatest commandments. We learn what these are in Mark 12:29-31.

“The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’  The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’  There is no commandment greater than these.”

Lesson 5 - Christians Still Have Struggles

Life is an adventurous journey. It is full of ups, downs, and everything in between. It will not be perfect just because you follow Jesus Christ. We know that sin was brought into this world through Adam and Eve’s original sin. This in turn makes us more susceptible to sin. It also means that sin is in this world regardless of how much we desire it not to be. The devil will tempt you to sin, not God. Also, our inclination to sin will cause us to struggle.
